How to pick out the perfect stroller for your kids

When you have children you find out that a stroller can be your best friend. When you go out to run errands you will have your baby, diaper bag, purse, bottles and any items that you purchase to carry so a stroller can make your life easier by helping you "tote" everything with ease.

There are five basic kinds of strollers - travelsystem strollers, convenience strollers, jogging strollers, umbrella strollers and double strollers. Travel systems allow you to take your car seat directly from the car and place it in the stroller without ever having to remove your child from the car seat. This is a fantastic feature if your child falls asleep in the car and you want to keep them sleeping while you roll them around the mall.

Convenience strollers are very lightweight, portable and fold up easily which is a great option for moms that normally have their hands full. Most of them have the ability to accommodate your kids infant car seat as well.

Jogging strollers If you are a a mom or dad that loves to exercise outside then a jogging stroller is the way to go. They are three wheeled strollers that are made for all terrains. Remember, your child should be at least six months of age before riding in one if possible.

Umbrella Strollers look like an umbrella when they are folded closed. They are very lightweight so they are very easy to carry around especially when traveling by plane and your hands are already full.

Double strollers are meant for parents that have two children under the age of four. There are two styles, a front-to-back style and a side-by-side style. Visit JustDoubleStrollers.com for a selection of double strollers.

When it comes to strollers there are many choices to meet any lifestyle so do your research online and discuss it with other parents to find the one that is best for you and your children.

Should You Take a Stroller for Your Kids When Traveling?
Recently I was pushing my nearly three-year-old daughter in the stroller I’d been using since she was an infant, the Aria Peg Perego Stroller. It had always been a great stroller and the thought of buying a new one frankly hadn’t even crossed my mind. Why would I? This one worked, she was comfortable, and everything was fine. Never mind the fact that she was nearing the weight limit (which I didn’t even realize) and that it was getting harder to steer (hmmm…probably due to the fact that she was nearing the weight limit?).

It was only when we were a week away from boarding a plane that I thought “should I take her stroller?” Which led me to many thoughts … could I take it on board? Could I check-it? Were there size requirements – did it need to fold like an umbrella stroller?

That’s when I started researching and realized she had nearly outgrown the Aria and I had to get a new one anyway (bad Mom - again). So, the research began. Did I want an umbrella stroller? What was important … did I need it to recline? What about a lap bar with cup holder? What about a cargo space? Was it easy to collapse? Did I need a travel bag? How in the world did they come up with so many options?

I decided on the Maclaren Volo, which turned out to be a perfect fit for us. It was a dream to steer, had a good-size cargo space, folded easily, came with an attached travel shoulder strap, and had a weight limit higher that all the other options. I found it, ordered it, and got it ready to go in time to try it out and head to the airport. We were so excited about the new stroller, and I was patting myself on the back for a job well done!

I’ll skip the part about delayed and cancelled flights, the travel day extended by nine additional hours and … did I mention the lost gate-checked stroller? Ahhh, the joys of parenthood.

Stroller Accessories

One thing first time parents learn the hard way is that you need an accessory for every baby accessory you have. There are two things you will want an accessory "distraction" for ... you car seat and your stroller. Nothing is worse than  fussy kids while you are driving down the road because you become distracted and stressed and pay less attention to the road and the other is while you are pushing your kids around the shopping mall. Tiny Love has products that easily attach to car seat handles and stroller trays. You will also want stroller accessories for you like the combi stroller pack which you can use on your outings to store bottles, cell phone, wallets, keys and more.

When you are out on long walks you might also want a stroller bugshield, universal cup holder, an InStep weathershield, sunshade or parasol. The car seat and stroller accessories below will make your outings with your kids complete.
