Bath Time Fun for Kids

Giving a bath to your kids should be a fun time for all. Here are some wonderful toys to help your kids play and imagine, accessories to keep them safe and you comfortable while bathing them, decor to make their bathroom exciting, robes and hoodies to keep them warm and shampoos to keep them clean. There is one thing that all children either love or hate from the get go and that is the bath tub. Your job as a parent is not only to make bath time fun and successful but most of all, your job is to make sure that it is always safe for your kids. Here are some tips to help you ensure the safety of your child while in a bath room or around water.giving your baby a bath

  1. Never ever leave your child of any age unattended for any reason near sinks, tubs, toilets, buckets or other containers of water. Empty them immediately after each use so there is no risk of the child falling into water and drowning due to the inability to get themselves out.
  2. Always watch your children while they are in the bath tub. Bath tub rings and baby bath seats are never a substitute for your adult supervision.
  3. Make sure to always check the bath water temperature with your wrist or elbow BEFORE placing your child in the tub so they do not get burned. Make sure your water heaters in your home have the temperature set to an appropriate degree.
  4. Keep all toilet lids closed. This will stop curious children from falling in face first as well as stop toys from being dropped into the toilet.
  5. Make sure all cabinets and drawers are locked with child safety locks and all appliances like space heaters, curling irons, hair dryers, razors etc are put away and out of reach of the child. It is best if you keep your bathroom doors closed when they are not in use.

Tips on giving your baby a bath- An infant bath tub helps

One of my biggest fears as a new mom was giving my newborn baby a bath. How do I do it? What do I need? How do I hold him and wash him properly? Do I need my husband to hold him while bathe him? etc. One thing I learned is that practice does make perfect so the more I bathed him the more comfortable I got with the whole process. infant baby tub

Here are some tips and suggestions for bathing kids: Feel free to leave us your tips too!

I asked a few of my girlfriends and my own mother what to do and they filled me in on some tips. For the first month of your kids life bathe them with a spongebath and only use water. Shampoos, body washes and bubble baths can have detergents in them that can aggrevate a newborns skin. Always keep the bathroom stocked with what you will need for the bath such as baby bath, wash cloth, baby q-tips, towel and a diaper.

Make sure that bath time is a time when both you and your baby are relaxed. Some babies fear the water so if you are relaxed they will sense that they are safe and start enjoy it. Fill the tub with warm water and be sure to check it with your elbow to ensure that it is not too hot for your baby. It helps if you have a warm bathroom as well so your baby doesnt shiver and become uncomfortable.

Checklist for Bath Supplies for KidsGently lower your baby into the water but make sure that you are supporting them throughout.

NEVER EVER leave a child of any age (especially a baby) in the bath unattended. If you have to leave the bathroom for any reason remove your child from the water, wrap them in their warm towel and take them out of the bathroom with you.

Gently use the clean wash cloth to clean your baby's face, neck and ears and pat (not rub) them dry. Then clean hands, arms, legs and feet. When washing their bottom and genitals make sure to clean from front to back. Put a clean diaper on you are all done! Check out our selection of infant bath tubs

Shampooing your baby

Shampooing your baby
Shampooing your new baby can make you nervous if you are a first time parent so here are some tips to help you get comfortable with the process.

In the beginning you will only need shampoo your baby once or twice a week. If your child has cradle cap your doctor may recommend doing it more frequently.

Get your baby's hair wet by using a cup of lukewarm water. You only need a drop of shampoo the size of a pea to shampoo your baby's head.

Make sure your baby's head is well supported and that they are comfortable and relaxed. Rinse all the shampoo out of their hair.

Bath Toys

Bath Toys are a wonderful distraction for little ones, especially those who are not fond of taking a bath. The toys let the child interact and enhance their development. The bath toys that squirt out water always cause lots of giggles and surprise. Little Tikes  has a great selection of fun and interactive toys.
