Shoes for infant
and new walkers- Do they really need shoes?
Doctors will tell you that new
walkers should not wear shoes. Feet develop best when they are bare
because it helps shape and strengthen arches and ankles. Once your
toddler has been walking around for a few months and is comfortable
with that new milestone you can move on to big boy or big girl shoes
but in the mean time look for the following:
Flexible and soft soles- this helps
the child walk almost as if they were barefoot.
Low cut- no high tops or hiking
boots just yet. This is hard on their developing ankles.
Nonskid bottoms-Babies have a hard
time keeping their balance and they tend to try and run before they
walk so make sure the bottoms are safe and nonslip.
Good Size- Do not buy the shoes too
big because it will cause the baby to fall but their feet grow so
quickly if they are small shoes to start they will wear them once or
twice.
When your baby is in the infant stage just laying around or sitting up
please keep them in socks and booties. They come in great sets which
are also provided below.
