Gliders and Rockers for Kids
One of the most amazing, comfortable, relaxing
and gratifying things a mother can experience is holding and rocking
their baby. Babies love feeling the safety and warmth of their
mother’s arms and mothers enjoy nothing more than to shower their
little one with all the love they can give and that is why a rocker
or glider is an important purchase for a nursery.
Nursery Gliders make a
beautiful and functional addition to a
nursery. The best part is you can use one the very day your baby
comes home from the hospital as well as for years to come with your
growing child.
Babies love the smooth rocking motion because it
provides them the comfort of feeling as if they are back in the womb
so when your child is fussy or upset and walking them around doesn’t
work, snuggle up with them in your nursery glider.
There are many options when it comes to
rockers. You can choose the right one to match your kids nursery
by the color as well as the style that is comfortable for you. If
you are a breast feeding mother make sure that the arms of the
glider are comfortable for
nursing
positions and make sure that it gives your back the proper support
so you don’t end up with bad back aches. If you can get an ottoman
to match do so, your tired legs and feet will be grateful to you.
You will want one that rocks or glides effortlessly and quietly
because a squeaky rocker can easily wake a sleeping baby.

Safety Tips for Cribs
Safety Tips for Baby Bedding and Cribs
There's nothing more wonderful than planning the nursery. If you've decided to find out the gender of your baby, you can have the room all ready for him or her when you come home from the hospital. One of the toughest choices is picking out the baby bedding for the crib. These are some tips on how to create a safe and restful environment for your kids.
- Make sure the baby's crib has a firm, tight-fitting mattress.

- Use a tight fitting bottom sheet that is made for a crib mattress. Make sure it is secure so you do not have to worry about it coming loose and covering your babies face in the night.
- Remove all pillows, comforters, blankets and stuffed animals from the crib
before laying your child down to sleep.
- If you use bumper pads they should fit around the entire crib, tie or snap into place and have straps or ties at least in each corner, in the middle of each long side and on both the top and bottom edges to keep them secure. To prevent your baby from becoming entangled in the ties, trim off excess length after tying them
to the crib. Bumpers should be removed as soon as your child is able to pull up and stand because they can step on the bumper and fall out of the crib.
- Once you find the crib you like make sure it meets all the safety regulations. Here are things to look for in a crib:
- The cribs slats should be no more tha 2 3/8" apart. That way they can not stick their heads through them and get stuck.
- Make sure the crib is securely put together and has no risk of collapsing on your baby.
- Never use a pillow in the crib due to the possibility of suffocating your kids.
- Keep stuffed animals and excess blankets out of the crib as well because they can also cause suffocation.
- If you are going to have decorative bumpers in your crib be sure to remove them once your baby can kneel or stand so they do not use them to help themselves climb out.
- When you buy a
mattress make sure it fits snugly into the crib. You do not want a space of more than the width of two adult fingers between the crib and the mattress.
- When you place your crib in your nursery make sure it is not next to any lamp cords, windows, fans, heaters, furniture it could use to grab onto and climb out or other strangulation hazards.
- If you decide to use a secondhand crib or a crib older than 2 years old make sure itmeets all current safety standards and that it isnt damaged in any way.
- Do not use Pack N Plays or Playards as the main crib. They are not made to withstand the the wear and tear that naps and bedtimes can have one them.
- Remember, the firmer the mattress for your baby the better.

Picking Out a Crib
Picking out a crib is a very hard decision for most mothers because of their budget and the importance of the crib. The crib is where your baby will spend the majority of its time while in the nursery so it essentially becomes the focal point of the room. When buying a crib for kids there is one main question to ask yourself...
What kind of crib do you want for your baby?
- A standard crib has either one side that drops or both sides drop.
- A Round crib is becoming popular because it can be in the center of the room or corner.
- A convertible crib that will convert to a toddler bed and then to a full size bed.
- Canopycribs have four posts that hold up a frame that you place a fabric canopy on. This makes the nursery seem more elegant and gives it a classic look.

Changing Table -
You will
spend lots of time bonding with your child while changing their

and go ahead and invest in two to three changing pad covers.
This way you always have a spare when you are washing the little

There are lots of diaper brands to choose from. In my
experience the Pampers brand works the best on boys and Huggies
for girls. They also come in stages and sizes.
